Dell announced today a new tablet with a small diagonal and Windows on board, the EveryPad Pro model. This unit will be sold via the Japanese retailer Yamada-Denki and it uses the free version of Windows 8.1, the one with Bing in the mix.
The Dell EveryPad Pro is an 8 inch unit, with an IPS LCD panel on board and a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. This model would have felt like a midranger even last year, so the price tag of $485 is very steep. We do get 4G LTE on board, as well as 64 GB of storage, but that doesn’t quite justify the tag. Inside we find a quad core Intel Atom Z37775D processor, clocked at 1.5 GHz, as well as 2 GB of RAM and at the back rests a 5 megapixel cam.
We’ve got a front 1.2 MP shooter and the unit weighs 405 grams. It measures 9 mm in thickness and comes in black, but in case you want to buy it, it’s only available in Japan via the above mentioned retailer for now. Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi are also in the mix and since this slate has a microSIM, I’m guessing it can also make calls, although I can’t quite promise that.
