Chinese phone makers are having a good year, all of them and today we learn that Coolpad also joins this trend. They aim to ship over 20 million 4G smartphones in 2014. They are preparing yet another model of this type called Dazen F2, that manages to cost as little as $177.
That price is contract free and the device has incredible specs, like 2 GB of RAM, a 64 bit octa core Snapdragon 615 processor and a 5.5 inch HD display. Coolpad Taiwan wants to sell 100k Dazen F2 units on the local market and Coolpad also intends to launch 5 to 9 4G smartphone models next year in Taiwan. The target sale of 500k units will bring the company a smartphone market share of 5%, apparently.
90 million 4G smartphones will be sold in China in 2014 and Coolpad expects to ship more than 20 million units all over the world. Coolpad is right now the biggest 4G smartphone vendor in China, with a market share of over 15%, showing how fragmented the market is in this segment. Next year the expectations are that the China market will grow to 350 million units of 4G smartphones.
