In spite of this new Lava phone being called “Beats”, don’t expect any involvement from Dr. Dre’s company. The newcomer is the Lava Iris X1 Beats, packing a 5 inch screen and offered at a price tag of $105.

We’re dealing with a lower end offering, one that looks a bit like Gionee handsets and a bit like the iPhone. In spite of not being Beats material, this is still a music phone, one that uses a K-Class amplifier for enhancements. It also comes with free downloads worth more than the phone via the Hungama app. This is a dual SIM device with Android 4.4 KitKat and a FWVGA IPS display.

It’s powered by an unspecified 1.2 GHz processor and has 1 GB of RAM. 8 GB of storage are also include, plus a microSD card slot, a 5 MP back camera and a front 0.3 MP shooter. There’s 3G, GPRS/EDGE connectivity here, as well as GPS and a 2200 mAh battery, that offers up to 11 hours of talk time on a 3G network. Lava Iris X1 Beats measures 9 mm in thickness.
