Today, MediaTek, a pretty important player on the SoC market, announced the launch of a new range of processors that will arrive on high-end smartphones. The new products from this range are called Helio X and Helio P, both offering high-performance and low power consumption.
The only chip revealed completely is called Helio X10, a 64-bit module that brings eight true octa-cores clocked at 2.2 GHz. According to MediaTek, this new processor offers support for display refresh rates up to 120 Hz, and slow motion videos at 480fps.
While the specs of the first unit of the Helio-P are unknown for the moment, MediaTek said that this SoC will be a premium one that will be launched later this year. The company also declared that the first devices with Helio CPUs on board will arrive on the market starting in the second quarter of 2015.
