Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 have already started and today we catch a glimpse of Samsung’s display roadmap for mobile devices of 2015. A slide from this presentation was leaked during the Analyst Days presentation, showing us that Samsung will enter UHD territory this year on mobile.
It’s very likely that a Super AMOLED Ultra HD panel will be present on the Galaxy Note 5, if everything goes well. Production will begin in August and an unveiling is expected in September, at IFA 2015, together with the Galaxy Note 5 Edge. The term diamond pixel is also mentioned here and a 700+ ppi density should be present on the new panels.
Samsung will offer a 5.78 inch diagonal on the dual edge Note 5, that will go as high as 762 ppi in pixel density, while the 5.89 inch Galaxy Note 5 will reach 748ppi. We’ve just gotten used to Quad HD on phones and some device makers are even staying away from that on their flagships (Huawei, HTC, maybe Sony), so why jump to 4K? This resolution has just become popular among TV sets, that are cheaper and cheaper, so why rush to put smartphones in the same place, while sacrificing battery?
