It appears Sony is ready to leave behind its Omni-Balance approach for the Xperia Z flagships and go with a new look on the Xperia Z5. We’ve heard these rumors before, even ahead of the Xperia Z4 launch, but today we learn more about them.

Sony is going to draw inspiration for the Z5 from the most recent BRAVIA TV set models. We’ll get a completely clean facade with a frosted glass effect, the Sony logo will be placed to the side and there will be no branding at the front. The body of the newcomer will be thicker than the one of the Xperia Z3 or Z4 and it will have angular sides.

Sources also say the design is kind of reminiscent to the Sony Ericsson age. Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra and Z5 Compact will follow the same approach. While the Z5 will have a diagonal of 5.2 inches probably, the Z5 Compact will measure 4.8 inches and the Z5 Ultra 6 inches. The Z5 Compact is also said to get a Full HD resolution. Maybe Sony will be back on track after all…
