This week marks the debut of Computex 2015 and among the big names there we’ve got ASUS, unveiling a series of phones, tablets and a new smartwatch. The newcomer is the ASUS ZenWatch 2, arriving only a few months after the first ZenWatch.
This device has a metal crown button, that’s supposed to offer a new way of interaction with the Android Wear UI. The device comes in two sizes: 49 mm with a stainless steel case and 45 mm. In total there are 18 different combinations of colors and materials to purchase the device in, with the biggest customization going on in the strap area.
The watch offers leather and rubber options, as well as metal. ASUS also announced a partnership with Swarovski, that will generate a “gorgeous leather strap” with embossed diamond pattern and crystals embedded. Another novelty is the new magnetic charger used for the ZenWatch 2, in lieu of the usual wire connector. Apparently, it also decreases recharge times.
This model comes with a water and dust resilient body, fitness features and an AMOLED screen with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 layer on top. There’s a new ASUS Remote Camera here, as well as the latest Android Wear available. A Qualcomm CPU is on board, most likely the Snapdragon 400. The ZenWatch will be available in gunmetal, silver and rose gold finishes.
