This fantastic piece of technology will surely aid the blind and visually impaired interact with the surrounding environment better! I’m talking about the iVisit SeeScan that’s been implemented on a mobile phone and gets demonstrated in the following video:

Image recognition is at its best and the technology even works fine with objects that are not fully exposed, like the 20 dollar bill that’s been folded and still was recognized by the handset’s camera. I’m guessing there’s a huge database of objects used to make the software work, but if you want more info, be sure to check out ivisit.

Also, you should probably know that the creators of this technology won CTIA E-Tech’s Enterprise Health vertical in 2009.
