The Turkish mobile network operator Avea has just opened a new base station that relies on solar and wind energy, that power its operations. Scottish company Proven Energy supplied the base’s turbine, that was fitted locally.
Proven Energy has been involved in other similar activities recently, for British Telecoms, also working with Orange, Motorola and Vodacom. Could solar/wind-powered base stations be the future for all major carriers in the world, trying to save a buck and the Planet?
