Micromax has launched a new affordable smartphone within the Canvas series and priced below $100. The newcomer is known as the Canvas Express and it comes with a design that feels a bit like an older iPhone.

Available exclusively on Flipkart, the product is priced at $93 and it will be available in India via the flash sale model starting with August 4th. Micromax also promised a free bundled data offer on Vodafone, with 500 MB free 3G data for the first 2 months. The Canvas Express 2 is supposed to be the most affordable octa core device in India.

It brings a 5 inch 720p display with an IPS panel, as well as Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Inside we find a 1.4 GHz octa core MediaTek MT6592M processor, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage. There’s a microSD card slot in the mxi as well, a 13 megapixel back camera with autofocus and a front 2 MP selfie shooter. The handset runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat and has a 2500 mAh battery, as well as a Cirrus Logic Wolfson Stereo DAC chip for enhanced acoustics.
