Last we heard, Google and Facebook were planning on buying Twitter, but now Apple enters the stage, offering 700 million bucks for the famous microblogging service, or so claim the rumours that have spread all over the web.
Facebook had offered $500 million plus for Twitter at the end of 2008, but Twitter turned it down, while Apple will pay the above mentioned amount in cash only, a very tempting offer for any company. Why would Apple want to buy a useless platform that allows people to tell other bored people when they drank their last coffee or what they’re watching on TV?
Most likely, Apple plans on making Twitter an iPhone-specific app, in order to increase the sales of the already well performing device. Considering the trendy nature of this microblogging platform and that of the iPhone, I’d say that they go hand in hand.
