Today was a big day for Sony, that finally unveiled its Xperia Z5 series, composed of not only the Xperia Z5 flagship, but also the Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 Premium, the world’s first 4K display smartphone. Everything that the leaks predicted came to life, including the Power button with elongated design and fingerprint scanner included.

All three phones share a Snapdragon 810 processor and pretty much the same design format, slightly similar to the one of the Xperia Z4, but with that extra Power button. The Xperia Z5 has a 5.2 inch Full HD display, while Z5 Compact adopts a 4.6 inch HD screen and the Xperia Z5 Premium opts for a 4K 5.5 incher, all of them with IPS and Triluminous technologies.

Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium get 3 GB of RAM, while the Z5 Compact has to do with 2 GB, apparently. 32 GB of storage should be available on all models, but the Compact, that may also ship in 16 GB flavours, but the microSD card slot is a given. The main novelty here is the 23 megapixel camera, with a custom made Sony sensor, an Exmor RS unit with powerful zoom.

The camera takes a picture in just 0.03 seconds, faster than the human eye can blink. There’s also a 24 mm equivalent F/2.0 lens in the mix and the camera app has received a redesign. Xperia Z5 has an aluminum frame with the Xperia logo engraved on the side and it offers waterproofing and dust proofing, like the other two units. Its thickness is 7.3 mm, while the Z5 Compact is a bit beefier, at 8.9 mm.

Xperia Z5 Premium opts for the same 23 MP 1/2.3 inch Exmor RS sensor at the back, with up to 12800 ISO and a front 5 MP shooter with 25 mm lens. The Z5 Premium has a stainless steel frame and it comes in an unique chrome option, aside from black and gold.

It runs Android 5.1, just like the other newcomers and it will come in November.
