Among the biggest panel providers out there we also have Innolux, a Taiwanese company that plans some changes to its producing lines. Thereby, today we get to know that soon one of its factories that produced until now a-SI TFT LCD panels, will receive an upgrade in the following months, in order to be able to produce IGZO TFT-LCD panels instead.

You must know that a-SI, LTPS and IGZO are 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd- generation back panel technologies that drive TFT-LCD panels. Both LTPS and IZGO panels can also drive OLED panels, while having a resolution level of 800ppi, and 1000ppi respectively.

Innolux plans to produce about 20.000 panels each month, screens with 8 to 12 inch diagonals that will be used later on notebooks, tablet devices and monitors. The production is supposed to start at the end of 2016, or probably in the first quarter of 2015. As expected, these upgrades won’t be cheap at all, as Innolux established a $30 million budget for this plan.

As you might know, among the company’s biggest customers, we have names as Toshiba, Samsung, Philips, Sony, Panasonic and Sharp.
