You know what the freshly certified ZTE S36 handset reminds me of? It reminds me of a Nokia Lumia device, maybe even one from the first generation. It’s certainly not the case here, since it’s a YunOS phone with very modest specs. Let’s see what the TENAA certification spells for us.
They’re so modest that this handset actually intrigues me. It’s not every day that you see a handset with a TFT 5 inch screen that has a 854 x 480 pixel resolution. ZTE S36 measures 8.6 mm in thickness and weighs 141 grams, but somehow it manages to bring 4G LTE support in the mix. There’s a 2000 mAh battery on board and I’m pretty certain this model is made of polycarbonate.
We don’t see devices with Alibaba’s mobile OS on board every day and this YunOS device opts for a quad core 1.5 GHz chipset, 1 GB of RAM and a mere 8 GB of storage. It also has a GPS and two modest cameras, a 5 MP back one and a 2 MP front shooter. If this device is priced any cent above $100, it’s not worth it.
