Samsung debuted two new phones today in China, part of the traditionally entry level range Galaxy On. They’re more high end this time, accessing the midrange segment. We’re talking about the Samsung Galaxy On5 (2016) and Galaxy On7 (2016).
The OG Galaxy On5 and On7 were already updated one this year, through the On5 Pro and On7 Pro, so that’s why it’s odd to see another upgrade. Anyway, it would appear that these models, safe for a few tweaks are actually the Galaxy J5 Prime and J7 Prime launched recently in India, but now rebranded. We get metal bodies this time and the Galaxy On7 (2016) packs a 5.5 inch Full HD screen, an octa core Snapdragon 625 processor and 3 GB of RAM.
There’s also 32 GB of storage, a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front shooter, both with F/1.9 aperture. 4G LTE is also here, plus a 3300 mAh battery and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The On5 (2016) has a Snapdragon 617 processor, but Samsung has yet to disclose a clear list of features. The best guess is a 5 inch HD screen, 2 GB of RAM, 13 MP and 5 MP cameras and 16 GB of storage, as well as a 2600 mAh battery.
Expect a price of $240 for the bigger unit, and perhaps a few dozens of dollars less for the smaller handset.
