Vivo is prepping yet another set of smartphones, the V5 and V5 Plus models, that are focused on selfies and said to have a very high res front camera. The devices have leaked before, ahead of their unveiling next week, but today we learn more info about them.
The Vivo V5 is the successor to the Vivo V3, that debuted in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, the Vivo V5 Plus is going to be the successor to the Vivo V3 Max. Both devices will have similar designs, meaning they’ll sport metal unibody cases. Vivo V5 is also going to bring a 20 megapixel selfie camera and the Vivo V5 Plus is also going to get this feature.
The newcomers will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, with the Funtouch OS 2.6 on top. Interestingly, these aren’t high end models, but rather midrangers, so the selfies remain their core. For example the V5 only has a 5.5 inch 720p display, 4 GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, as well as 32 GB of storage and a microSD card slot.
The 20 MP front camera has a special “Moonlight flash”, that works like the “retina flash” on iPhones. These smartphones also bring HiFi music output and rose gold and cold color choices. The V5 Plus could enhance the battery and resolution of the V5. Meanwhile, the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus are also set to debut in China, with LED flashes for their 20 MP front cameras.
