After spending months or maybe years as the company with the slimmest phones, Vivo became “that company with HiFi acoustic handsets” and now it’s the “company with the crazy selfie phones”. They already have a few 20 MP front camera units and today the Vivo V5 joins them.
The device relies on a 20 megapixel selfie shooter with Sony IMX376 sensor and LED flash, plus F/2.0 aperture and Full HD video capture. The main camera is a 13 MP one with autofocus and LED flash. The specs of the newcomer include an IPS LCD 5.5 inch screen, with HD res, plus an octa core 64 bit chipset with unknown maker, possibly a MediaTek CPU, but I wouldn’t count out a Snapdragon, too.
Anyway, we also get 4 GB of RAM, which is atypical for a 720p display phone, plus 32 GB of storage and a microSD card slot. There’s a 3000 mAh battery inside and a fingerprint scanner upfront, in the Home button. Acoustics are top notch on account of the audio chip AK4346 with HiFi abilities. This model runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, with the FunTouch OS 2.6 UI on top and split screen multitasking.
There’s a pretty looking 2.5D glass panel upfront and overall this is a slim phone, at 7.5 mm in waistline and weighing 154 grams. From the front it looks quite a bit like an iPhone 6. It’s priced at $265 and it’s available from November 26th.
