Since there are vehicles better than supercars out there, called hypercars, I’ll go ahead and call the ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe a hyperphone. It debuted at the end of the summer with the other ZenFone 3 models, which we already reviewed and now it’s here for our test and review. We start off with an unboxing, which is shown below. This Snapdragon 821 powerhouse is priced at around $735.
We’re testing the ZS570KL version of the phone, the 5.7 inch one, but there’s also a 5.5 inch model, in case you’re wondering. Anyway, the smartphone comes in an elegant box, feeling like a small jewelry box or a music box. Inside it there’s a charger (9V/2A/18W), USB Type C cable, manual, metal key and ZenEar S headphones, with a very elegant little case and a metal body, very nicely shaped.
The phone itself has a slim metal body, with a 7.5 mm thick waistline and it’s very light at 172 grams. It’s not only light on paper, for a 5.7 incher, but also light in real life, while we played with it. Upfront we find a Super AMOLED 5.7 inch Full HD screen and inside there’s 6 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, so ASUS went all out with the hardware here.
At the back there’s a 23 megapixel shooter with OIS, laser focus, 4K video and a ton of capture modes, while at the front there’s an 8 MP selfie shooter. HiRes audio is also included, plus a 3000 mAh battery to round up the hardware. OS-wise, there’s Android Marshmallow with Zen UI 3.0, like on the ZenFone 3 units. It all ends with a fingerprint scanner and an USB Type C port.
The ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe has good odds to dethrone the OnePlus 3 as the most powerful Android phone we tested. I guess we’ll have to wait and see… You can get the device here.
