There have been quite a few leaks of Sony Xperia handsets lately, but they were mostly related to specs, not pictures. Today we hit the motherload, as the Sony Xperia XA (2017) leaks online, in the hands on video seen below. Let’s analyze it!
The reason we say that this device, identified as the Xperia G3121 prototype by its handler is actually the Xperia XA (2017) is because its design traits line up perfectly with the leaked renders of the new XA from a few weeks ago (pictured below). The device seems to have incredibly slim bezels, but the top and bottom edges of the screen are quite big, so they may host stereo speakers.
We can’t tell if the screen is a 4K or Quad HD affair, but my guess it that the 4K device will come later on. The G3121 device here is shown with Android 7.0 Nougat in town, sporting the January 5th security patch. The previously mentioned codename appeared ever since the end of 2016 and it was associated with a CES 2017 release. That didn’t come through, though.
The hands on clip also mentions a 23 megapixel back camera and the overall design, narrow as it its, takes me back to the Xperia XZ a bit.
