Alcatel traditionally brings half a dozen phones to MWC or IFA and this year will not be different. Rumors surfaced this week that the TCL-owned enterprise has 5 handsets ready for MWC 2017, one of which is a modular unit.
We have very few details about the products right now, but the pictures included here seem to showcase a back cover with LEDs, that light up in tune with the music being played. This is closer to Moto Z’s modularity, rather than the one of the LG G5 or Project Ara. The Alcatel modular phone will be able to receive replaceable back modules, that will bring a variety of extra features.
The handset is said to have a 13 MP back camera with dual LED flash and inside it there’s an octa core MediaTek chipset. Some say it’s the new gen Alcatel Idol 5 and a price of 320 euros has been thrown around. All of the details will be unveiled during Alcatel’s press conference on February 26th. We also expect a flagship to debut, as well as models derived from the Idol 5, like a Pro or Mini unit.
