We try to keep busy here at GSMDome.com, sometimes too busy, so we may miss some hotshot flagships, but we certainly test them all when we can. That’s why the Sony Xperia X Performance finally reached us, albeit a bit late to the party. The device is now priced at $464 and it’s quite relevant, since it’s still a powerful device.
Launched as the main Sony flagship of the first half of 2016, this is a device that has a Snapdragon 820 CPU and a metal case. Inside the box we find a charger, USB cable and manual, with no trace of headphones or metal key. The key isn’t needed, because the SIM and microSD card slots are hidden behind a pullable tray, so there’s no need for that.
The device is IP68 rated, so it can take water and dust easily, with no problem. Sony Xperia X Performance measures 8.7 mm in thickness and weighs 165 grams, so it’s quite hefty, especially for a 5 incher. The screen offers a Full HD resolution and specs include a Snapdragon 820 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB/64 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and Android 6.0.1 as the OS.
Recently, we’ve heard the device was updated to Android 7.0 Nougat. This handset has a main 23 megapixel camera with PDAF and LED flash, plus 24 mm wide Sony G Lens. Upfront there’s a 13 MP selfie camera and we also find stereo speakers here. Within the side Power button we have the fingerprint scanner, as per the Xperia Z5 series. Finally, the Xperia X performance has a 2700 mAh battery.
This phone comes in white or black, lime or rose gold and it offers support for PS4 Remote Play, as well as AVG antivirus and a few more apps. We’ll be back with a full review soon, in the meantime you can get the device here.
