Elephone is among the companies preparing rivals for the Xiaomi Mi MIX, namely the Elephone S8, that just leaked. This device is supposed to be an edge to edge screen machine, that’s shown in a series of fresh hands on shots below.
This device really looks like the Xiaomi model, maybe except for the chin at the bottom, where it sports a Home button with fingerprint scanner. No idea what the actual diagonal is here, but I’m guessing it goes past 6 inches. This is merely a prototype, teased by Elephone so the finalized product could look different. Elephone has produced some interesting handsets over the years.
The Elephone S7 comes to mind, looking and feeling a lot like the Galaxy S7, but at a price that’s three times lower. My only question is if Elephone is ready to go all the way. The Elephone S7 had a MediaTek Helio X20 chipset, so the logical follow-up would be for the S8 to have the Helio X30, which is basically a premium 10 nm CPU. Expect more teasers over the next month or so.
