Xiaomi debuted a new handset today, the Redmi Note 5A, which is a more affordable selfie machine, with a 16 MP front camera as the selling point. It’s got a good build quality and a pretty promising battery.

We’re dealing with a 5.5 incher with an IPS LCD panel and a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. There’s a 16 MP front camera, a 13 MP back shooter and also at the back we find a fingerprint scanner, plus a 3080 mAh battery under the hood. The brain of the machine is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor, an octa core Cortex A53 unit built on the 28 nm process.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A is available with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, but there’s also 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage version. For those who really don’t want to spend much money, there’s even a 2 GB RAM model at $105. All three are available in China already, in champagne gold, rose gold and platinum silver. Add a few dozens of dollars more for the extra RAM and storage.

Keep in mind that the cheapest entry level model swaps the 16 MP front cam with a 5 MP one. A microSD card slot and two nano SIM card slots are also here.
