Till now we were wondering if Microsoft was ever going to bring the Xbox services to the mobile segment, but now this has turned into a matter of “when”, or so claims corporate VP Shane Kim, in an interview with Kikizo.

Turns out that Microsoft is focusing on the “living room experience” and expanding their Live services to other platforms. Xbox Live will be the core of the new services, like some sort of “connective tissue”, providing support for the Xbox 360, your TV, Twitter, Facebook, Netflix streaming and integrating them into a single app.

Microsoft might as well release its own portable gaming device, but this is not the time to do so, considering the economic depression. It’s much easier to simply expand an existing service, with strong backup and support behind it. We’ll see at most a Zune Phone with strong gaming capabilities, thanks to the Tegra chipset, but that’s all.
