After reviewing the Bluboo S1 and totally digging its design, it’s time to check out another Bluboo handset, the S8 this time. As shown by its name, box design and it very own design, it’s a tribute and a lookalike of the Samsung Galaxy S8. One may also call it a “clone”. Priced at $179.99 on Banggood.com, this device gets unboxed below.
Launched this summer, the product is available with a charger inside the box, a manual, USB Type-C cable, a metal key and a flexible and transparent case. There’s also an USB Type-C to 3.5 mm adapter, which basically tells you that there’s no audio jack on board of the device. This handset comes with an 83% screen to body ratio and it’s quite heavy in the hand.
I couldn’t find its weight listed anywhere, so I guess it could be anywhere between 180 and 200 grams or even more. It’s got a 2.5D glass panel upfront and an 18:9 screen with a 5.7 inch diagonal and an atypical resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. You can use with gloves or wet hands and inside the device there’s an octa core MediaTek MT6750T processor, accompanied by 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.
There’s also a 3450 mAh battery on board and it runs Android 7.0 Nougat with 360 OS on top. This one is a dual SIM machine, that makes uses of a dual back camera, with a 13 MP + 3 MP setup, much like we saw on the Bluboo S1. It can do Bokeh shots and upfront there’s a 5 MP camera. The way the back side reflects light reminds me of the ASUS ZenFone 3 or maybe a CD, as Bluboo itself tells us.
The handset stands out through the titanium-zinc alloy frame and its very narrow screen bezels. The fact that Bluboo pulled this off at less than $200 is stunning. We’ll be back with a full review soon and in the meantime you can get the phone here.
