Here we are finally with an ASUS ZenFone 4 handset officially in our hands. It’s the ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro and it stands out through a dual front camera, with a 12 MP + 5 MP sensor package. This device was unveiled in August with the whole ZenFone 4 series and it debuted in Europe on September 21st. You can find it in stores priced at $450 and we unbox it below.
This device’s first contact was impressive, since it has a metal design that’s incredibly light and slim, even compared to our expectations. Inside the box we find the charger, headphones, headphone plugs, an USB cable (microUSB 2.0) and that’s about it. Available in black, gold or red, the machine weighs 147 grams and measures just 6.85 mm in thickness.
The phone comes with a 5.5 inch Full HD AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 625 processor and 3 or 4 GB of RAM. There’s also 64 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a 5 magnet speaker. A fingerprint scanner is placed upfront within the Home button and inside we also find a 3000 mAh battery. At the back rests a 16 MP camera with 4K capture, but the real kicker is the dual front camera with a 12 MP and 5 MP sensor.
They even have their own dual LED flash and do 4K video capture. The camera is also capable of 24 MP dual Pixel shots and Portrait/Bokeh shots. Finally, the ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro was our first contact with Zen UI 4.0, which is finally more mature and gets rid of many bloatware apps. ASUS also advertises Beautification features during selfie camera streaming and Wefie (wide angle selfies).
We’ll be back with a full review ASAP. You should also know there’s a more affordable version of the phone, the ZenFone 4 Selfie, that has a capable set of 13 MP cameras, one front and one back. In the meantime you can get the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro here.
