Here we go again, unboxing yet another interesting and original device, this time the Doogee BL5000 handset, priced at $149.99. On paper it’s a battery phone, but in reality it’s a curved machine with midrange specs and a dual camera. Let’s see what’s inside the box.

This device comes with a SIM key, a transparent and flexible case, a manual, USB cable of the microUSB 2.0 variety, charger and a screen protector. A cleaning rag also makes the cut. I feel the need to mention again just how curved the phone is, at both the front and back. It reminds me a bit of the Huawei Honor Magic, to be frank, or with a bit of imagination you can compare it with a football, the NFL kind.

The Doogee BL5000 has a dual SIM setup and it packs a 5.5 inch Full HD IPS LCD display, plus a MediaTek MT6750T octa core CPU and 4 GB of RAM. There’s also 64 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a fingerprint scanner upfront. Aside from the 5050 mAh battery, that should offer easily 2 days of usage, maybe more, there’s another selling point: the dual 13 MP + 13 MP camera, with Bokeh capture.

That sounds great at this price and we also get an 8 MP front camera with LED flash. Make no mistake, this may be a sexy beast, but it’s also heavy, at 210 grams. On paper we also have lossless 2X zoom, but I’ll have to look into that. Overall I remain impressed by the battery and there’s also 12V fast charging at 2A. The custom UI on top of Android Nougat is kinda cute, with that rotating widget of a cat and GameBoy.

We’ll be back with a full review soon. The handset can be bought here.
