This year begins with (what else?) leaks of course, related to future handsets. iPhone X Plus may not have leaked as much as the Galaxy S9, but it did register some appearances in the press lately. Today we learn what its diagonal may be and what display panel it may use.
It appears that LG will be the supplier of the OLED panel for the 6.5 inch iPhone X. The info comes from well connected sources in Asia, quoted by ET News. A report from last month actually mentioned both LG and Samsung as suppliers for the iPhone X screen. It’s important to mention that LG didn’t supply any panels for the current iPhone X.
Samsung was the only partner in this area. Interestingly LG will now take care of the bigger iPhone X, while the regular one stays with Samsung. We take the info with a grain of salt of course, but LG has a long standing partnership with Apple, having supplied panels for iPads for many years now. LG kinda failed its big test, the one that involved supplying panels for the Pixel 2 XL last year.
The device had quite a few problems, with burn in, image retention, gray areas and more, which somehow were not present on its own LG V30… Hopefully they’ll deliver better on the new iPhone.
