A few weeks ago Xiaomi confirmed its presence at MWC 2018 and we highly expected them to also have an event and unveil something. Turns out they won’t and the Xiaomi Mi 7 isn’t exactly ready for prime time just yet. Our sister site Mobilissimo.ro actually contacted Xiaomi and what they said can be found below.

Kaylene Hong, communications manager at Xiaomi claims that the company isn’t going to hold any press conference at MWC or any unveiling. They will have a booth at Hall 6 Stand 6B30. There we’ll see their latest smartphones and Mi Ecosystem lifestyle products, like the rice cookers, action cameras, TVs, bikes and more. Xiaomi Mi 7 was rumored for a long while and multiple times to come in Q1 2017, so it’s still on track for that.

I expect it to come in March, if I were to guess, perhaps ahead of the Huawei P20 unveiling. It’s expected to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU, 6 or 8 GB of RAM, a dual back camera and an in display fingerprint scanner. Rumors talked about a Face ID-like mechanism, with notch included. I’m sure multiple leaks will happen till then and I’m surprised we haven’t seen more of the device.

Over the past few months, Xiaomi expanded to Europe, inaugurating a French, Italian and Spanish branch. The Italian one opened in Milan last week. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S is more likely to debut in Barcelona, at MWC according to sources.
