We’ve heard the name Hikaru before, but very few details were known regarding Sony Ericsson’s touchscreen cameraphone. SE Hikaru will bring the 8 MP/8GB game to the cameraphone market and it will be accompanied by another hot phone, Twiggy.
According to SEMC Blog, Hikaru will be a slider, probably fitting in the Cyber-shot series. No info on its keyboard, be it QWERTY, alphanumeric or just virtual, as for the pic you see above, rest assured that it’s only a mockup done by Unwired View, based on SE W960.
Moving on to Twiggy, that probably hast nothing to do with Marilyn Manson, as some of you might think, this is billed as the successor of W350, so a sure Walkman phone. This SE device uses a 240 x 320 pixels display, a 3 megapixel camera and it’ll arrive in two color versions starting the second quarter of 2009. No mockup for this handset, sorry…
Will HTC also handle the Hikaru as it did with XPERIA X1? And what a fine job they did, I have to say… Maybe they’ll learn something from this cameraphone experience and create their own HTC 10 megapixel wonderkid.
