Samsung unveiled today the Samsung Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 phones, also the Galaxy A52 5G. We had the chance to pull off hands on videos with all of them and you can find impressions on your YouTube channel. Now let’s focus on the Galaxy A52/A52 5G and let’s detail the experience. We’re dealing with two phones which are virtually identical, except for the CPU and refresh rate, maybe also RAM quantity. For more such unboxing videos visit korucaredoula .
Gone are the days of the Galaxy Alpha and metal phones, also gone are the first Galaxy A5 models, with glass and metal. We’re dealing with midrange devices, with plastic bodies, or better “acrylic glass”, which adopt a new camera design akin to the S21 one, but moved towards the center.
The device is priced at around $450.
Here’s the specs list for those curious:

What does Galaxy A52/52 5G borrow from the Galaxy S21?
In short, One UI 3.1, the camera module design, SmartTag support and also SmartThings support, plus Single Take, with less options though. There’s also Pro Video in the camera area, Comfort Shield which lets us get rid of the blue light. Music Share and Continuity are also borrowed.
What’s extra here compared to the S21?
Basically, the following: audio jack, microSD card slot, charger bundled.
What’s new compared to Galaxy A50 and A51
The core innovation is in the camera area, with OIS for the main camera and a higher res 64 MP sensor compared to the 48 MP of the predecessor. Stereo speakers are also a novelty, since the A50 and A51 only had one speaker at the bottom. The jump in refresh rate to 90 and 120 Hz is definitely a welcome update, while the IP67 certification should be of note as well and wasn’t available before. Samsung worked with Snapchat for a Fun Mode, integrated in the camera UI, bringing new and fun filters every day to the camera.
I’d also mention modes like AI Power Saving and Advanced Game Booster for gamers.
Conclusions
Samsung seems to be set on the idea of taking as many features from the Galaxy S series as possible for its Galaxy A units. They’re ready to appease the people who feel like they’re missing out on S21 innovations because they want to spend so much. For me the biggest updates are the stereo speakers, camera OIS and 120 Hz refresh rate. I’d recommend these phones for video watching, gaming, music and definitely video/photo content creation.
