The Italian folks of HD Blog have managed to compare the displays of the most important smartphones on the market, with an emphasis on Samsung devices and also included the iPhone 3GS in the comparison. You can check out below the list of handsets analysed in the video and you’ll find out all the details you need to know about each and every one of them. You can notice that all the handsets display the same background image and feature the same brightness level set to maximum.
Keep in mind that right now, Windows Mobile OS supports only 65.000 colours, while there are some models that manage to display 16 million colours, using a different OS. Here’s the full list of handsets and their visual specs:
Samsung I8000 Omnia II – resistive AMOLED display, 65k colours, 3.7 inches, 480 x 800 pixels, TouchWiz 2.0 UI
Samsung I7500 Galaxy – capacitive AMOLED touchscreen display, 16 million colours, 3.2 inches, 320 x 480 pixels
Samsung i8910 Omnia HD – capacitive AMOLED touchscreen display, 16 million colours, 3.7 inches, 360 x 640 pixels
Samsung i900 Omnia – TFT resistive display, 256k colours, 3.2 inches, 240 x 400 pixels
HTC Touch Pro2 – resistive TFT touchscreen display, 65k colors, 3.6 inches, 480 x 800 pixels, TouchFLO 3D
HTC Hero – capacitive TFT touchscreen display, 65k colors, 3.2 inches, 320 x 480 pixels, Sense UI
iPhone 3GS – capacitive TFT touchscreen display, 16 million colours, 3.5 inches, 320 x 480 pixels, multi touch
The final battle is between the iPhone 3GS and the Samsung AMOLED display phones, with Omnia HD probably being the winner of the fight, pretty close to Omnia II. The main issue with iPhone 3GS is the way the screen behaves in direct sunlight.
