After announcing a bunch of tablets based on Android and Win 7, Acer also confirmed a 4.8 inch smartphone, that’s actually pretty impressive. Although there’s no name for it, we learn that the device will be 1GHz material, with 1024 x 480 pixel resolution, 8MP rear camera and 2MP front cam.
Also, the phone is HSPA+ 14.4Mb/s capable and it appears the screen on the handset will be a landscape one with 21:9 aspect ratio. You can consider Acer’s new unit a combo between a tablet and smartphone, with its widescreen display and stretched out shape. Supposedly, this handset will launch in April 2011, so it may run Android 2.3 or even version 3.0.
This revolutionary design helps the product reach a minimal width (64mm), while at the front there’s a superb screen with multitouch support and 4 keys for navigation purposes (Home, Search, Menu, Back). The 8MP camera brings forth an LED flash and gaming features are also expected on this baby, thanks to 6 axis motion sensing (gyroscope and accelerometer).
