We’ve just received for testing purposes one of the most interesting handsets in 2012: Acer CloudMobile S500. This device got the IF Design Award 2012 and it has crazy good prices. Orange sells it for 1 euro with a 2 year contract and off contract it costs a very affordable 200 euros.

Inside its black box we find a USB cable, charger, charger adapter, old school headphones, manuals and the battery of the device. The CloudMobile is a very light and sleek handset, with an upper and lower metallic edge. It uses a microSIM card and it packs a 4.3 inch IPS LCD screen with a 720p resolution. The handset measures 9.9 mm in thickness and it weighs 122 grams. Acer CloudMobile comes with Dolby Mobile technology, 8 GB of storage, 1 GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and HDR.

It runs Android ICS using a dual core Snapdragon S4 1.5 GHz CPU and it also has FM radio and an Adreno 225 GPU. Finally, the battery is a Li-Ion 1460 mAh unit and once the setup process is done, we discovered that the phone comes with the Swype keyboard as the preinstalled option. Quite a pleasant surprise at 200 euros, I have to say!
