The guys from the Xda-developers forum are working non-stop to deliver cool new software to our HTC devices and among those there’s Android 1.0, that runs on HTC Touch Diamond. Here’s a video showing the operating system in action on Diamond:
Notice that the OS runs quite neatly and supports stylus input, but there’s not much to do while testing it, aside from toying with the calculator, checking out the virtual QWERTY keypad in the RSS reader menu and other standard activities. There are applications that don’t work yet and connectivity with GSM networks is limited, while WiFi or 2G/3G networks aren’t supported yet.
The Internet can be used through USB, still, but that’s not the best option the world. The microphone and sound devices don’t work yet and Google Maps requires an Internet connection to run, so we can’t know for sure if it works. Looking forward to further developments.
