After yesterday’s sad announcement regarding the lack of Android 2.3 support on HTC Desire, the Taiwanese company had a change of heart and announced that we’ll be seeing the OS on the handset after all. What happened to the “many engineers who couldn’t get HTC Sense and Gingerbread working on Desire”?

We suppose that their decision (and poor PR for that matter) has to do with many people/fans being angry at HTC for not delivering the update for the incredible phone that was so popular last year. There was talk of insufficient memory yesterday, but today the update suddenly works. What’s the deal with that?

I guess that having a bunch of people on Twitter and Facebook saying that they want to switch to Samsung can do wonders… Meanwhile, people are already doing just fine using custom ROMs from the XDA Developers community, so nothing is lost.
