We already reviewed the ASUS ZenFone 3, in the ZE520KL version, which was the 5.2 incher of the range and now it’s time for the 5.5 incher to make its descent on our testing bed. This model is known as the ASUS ZenFone 3 ZE552KL and it’s priced at $449 on Amazon or $319 on GearBest.com courtesy of the Singles Day sales. We take it out of the box below.
The box is identical to the one of the previous ZenFone 3 model we tested, but this time we have the white version of the phone, not black. In the box we find a metal key used to prop open the slots, USB Type C cable, a big charger (5V/2A/10W), headphones and their plugs, as well as a manual and warranty. The device has a premium build, involving a glass panel at the back and one at the front, between which rests a metal frame.
Upfront there’s a 5.5 inch Super IPS+ Full HD screen, with a 2.5D glass panel and inside the device rests an octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 CPU, together with 3 or 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. There’s a 16 megapixel back camera, with modern goodies like 4 axis OIS, 4K video capture and laser focus, as well as dual tone flash.
At the front there’s an 8 MP cam for selfies. This smartphone has dual SIM slots, LTE connectivity, SonicMaster 3.0 Tech and Hi Res acoustics. It also uses an USB Type C port, fingerprint scanner and has a 3000 mAh battery, bigger than the one of the ZenFone 3 5.2 incher. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ZenUI 3.0 on top and a short demo of its camera UI can be seen in the unboxing.
We’ll be back very soon with a full review. The phone can be bought here.
