Many handset makers have tried to make a “thing” out of narrow bezel screens, including LG with the G2 and G3 and then Sharp came along with the Aquos Crystal X and really changed the game. Now Chinese firm LeTV takes competition up a notch and seems to totally get rid of bezels on the new model shown below.
The product keeps the usual smartphone format, with a rectangular approach and rounded edges, but on the sides there’s nothing but glass. The problem that appears here is fragility, as such a phone would be prone to cracks if dropped on the sides. There’s also the trouble with the fingerprint smudging, once you grab hold of the device. However, this mystery LeTV phone, which doesn’t have a name yet is still coming and with pretty good specs I might add.
It’ll pack a 1080p 5.5 inch screen, an octa core 2.2 GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM, as well as 16 GB of storage, a 13 MP main camera and a 5 MP front shooter. There will be dual SIM slots inside and an interesting function, too: an USB Type C port, meaning this would be one of the first smartphones with this port, if not the first. LeTV owns a Chinese top video streaming website and also does e-commerce, so we expect their solutions to be on board for the new device.
