In spite of seeing a new BlackBerry model at MWC 2017, there are still several phones in the making and prepared for prime time. Alleged pictures of the so called BlackBerry Merah Putih unit have appeared and they’re shown below.
The product has leaked under the codename BBC100-1 and it’s supposed to be built by PT Merah Putih (Indonesian firm) for the Indonesian market. It’s a lower end device, previously rumored to have a Snapdragon 425 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz and also offering a larger 5.5 inch 720p HD screen, as well as 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. This is a dual SIM handset with a 3000 mAh battery and the dual SIM approach is certainly fresh for a BB machine.
PT BB Merah Putin is an enterprise from Indonesia, that should be able to manufacture quite a few units, but we can’t promise they’ll actually make it. Since the product is certified in Indonesia, it seems to be getting ready for debut. Expect a very low price and we wonder where TCL comes in on this. Also, as far as the design goes, it feels more like a cheaper Moto G4 or G5 than a typical BB.
