Bitstream has recently announced the release of BOLT 1.6, considered the “most fully featured mobile browser for mobile phones of all types”. The software provides great data compression ratio, neat website rendering, supports full web page display and it even manages to score 100% on the Acid3 test.
Web 2.0 dynamic web apps are supported, as well as visual rendering, including Web fonts. The new version of BOLT comes with a couple of improvements, like full socket-based connectivity, increasing the browser’s page rendering speed by 15%. Also, BOLT 1.6 comes with a brand new password manager and greater BlackBerry compatibility. In case you’re wondering about the stats, this browser has been downloaded over 2.8 million times since February 2009, when it debuted.
You can get Bolt and Bolt lite for free from here and there’s a demo of the software over here, if you want to test drive it. Among the features of the browser there are a bunch you’ll surely like: copy and paste text, display of full websites, video streaming (YouTube too), uploading photos/videos directly to websites.
