The BCM2049 is Broadcom’s latest chip, that uses the 65 nanometer technology in order to combine Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and an FM transceiver on a single chip.
This innovation would be perfect for music phones, as the chip also features SmartAudio voice processing, Bluetooth audio streaming and it’s able to transmit via FM. We’re waiting for the universal chip to unite all the functions of a mobile phone, but that’s more sci-fi right now, although the decreasing size of netbooks is showing that something’s evolving in the chips’ segment after all.
