Casio has a very tough phone in its portofolio, the G’zOne Commando, that will soon reach Verizon, it seems. This solid device can be submerged in water with ease, exposed to the highest and lowest of temperatures and confronted with other perils and accidents. The OS of choice is Android 2.2 with a custom UI from Casio.
No word on the processor used by this device, but what we do know is that the Commando comes with 512MB of RAM, a 3.6 inch 800 x 480 pixel display and that it measures 0.6 inches in thickness. A large pair of speakers dominate the front of the device and XT9 is used instead of Swype on this model. The interface on the handset looks just like in the screenshot available at the end of the article.
On board of the G’zOne Commando you’ll find apps for adventurous people, like a pedometer, compass, tide information and much more. Verizon sells this piece for $200, starting April 28.
