Everyone knows how tough it gets to get past queues on election day and how frustrating it is to stay in line, specially if your favourite candidate doesn’t make it. Turns out that there’s a simpler way to cast your vote, one that will be available in Estonia by 2011: mobile phone voting.

The Estonian Parliament has recently approved a law that allows citizens to vote by phone. It’s all done with the aid of a free authorization chip, which they’ll use on their handset, in order to get permission to vote, without having to leave the house.
