If you’re looking for a great movie playing software on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and you’re sobbing for the loss of VLC from the App Store, we have a suggestion: CineXPlayer. It’s got the subtitles you’ve been craving for and much more!
The system is pretty intuitive for subs: as long as their name is the same with the one of the media file, the subtitles will be shown with the picture. You can set the subs’ size and there’s even a nifty feature in CineXPlayer that will play the video from where you left off, if it hasn’t been played to the end.
You can also block screen rotation, replace subtitles, but the list of supported formats is not that big. You’ll manage to play Avi files that are DivX encoded with .srt subs, but other formats won’t do it. This iPhone app costs EUR 1.59 and it’s available here. The iPad version goes for EUR 2.39 and you can find it here.
