After seeing what LG and Samsung can do in the eco-friendly phone segment, here comes another solar-powered handset, this time fitting in the low cost phone market. Enter Coral-200-Solar, a handset launched by Digicel Group, the world’s first low cost solar-powered cellphone.

Coral-200-Solar was manufactured by ZTE and it uses the company’s new technology, Intivation. The idea behind this device is that 2 billion people in the world have little or no access to electrical power, so they’ll have to do with the available resources, solar power being one of them.

However, the handset can still be plugged and charged like a normal phone, but the point is that Coral-200-Solar is both eco-friendly and helpful for people in third world countries.
