The Gionee Elife S5.1 has recently debuted in India, as the slimmest phone in the country, at 5.15 mm in waistline. The product is priced in this country at $305 and we got a hold of the device’s rebranded version, in the Eastern European version called Allview X2 Soul Mini. Romanian company Allview rebranded it, but kept the slim waistline and good specs.
The device comes inside a thin and elegant box, that reminds me of the one of the OnePlus One. Inside you find a small metal key, used to pry out the micro SIM tray, plus a charger, USB cable, a huge manual, a pair of good looking headphones, a screen protection and a code for Bitdefender Mobile Security. The handset is very classy and elegant and uses an aluminum and magnesium frame, to keep it sturdy.
This ultraslim phone has a glass layer at the front and one at the back, like the Xperias, plus it adopts an unibody design. Gionee Elife S5.1 comes in black or white and weighs 97 grams. Notice the nifty golden edges of the model… Specs include a 4.8 inch OGS AMOLED display with 720p resolution, an octa core Cortex A7 processor, 16 GB of storage and 1 GB of RAM. The OS is Android 4.4.2 and we’ve also got an 8 MP back camera, 5 MP front shooter, plus HD voice, DTS sound and a 2050 mAh battery.
We’ll be back with a full review ASAP.
