As we expected, Google launched its Google Voice number porting feature, that’s explained in detail in the following video. If you’re a Google Voice user you can pay $200 and switch from your usual handset number and carrier to Google’s own service.

However, keep in mind that your current service contract will be cancelled and this service is only available for existing Voice users. Google mentioned that it’ll allow the creation of new accounts in the next few weeks, so be patient and try to save some cash if you want to cancel your subscription.
