Yesterday we informed you about the existence of a Gree phone, a device made by a company that usually manufactures appliances. We only got to see the back of the handset at the time, but today we get more shots and a price.

The Gree phone is priced at 1000 yuan, which converts to $161, so it’s going to be affordable. Apparently, the maker wants to sell 100 million units this year, although I think the number is off by a few digits, or  my Chinese source is wrong. Xiaomi wants to sell the same amount this year and I can see them doing that, but Gree is only at its first phone and even 1 million units would be good.

The handset has a diagonal of about 5.5 inches, a pretty common design, Android on board, probably KitKat and what seems to be a metallic chassis. Bezels are pretty big and I expect 1 or 2 GB of RAM inside, a MediaTek quad core or octa core CPU, at least an 8 MP back camera and 8 or 16 GB of storage. These are all predictions, though…
