It appears that there’s a special launch event in India on Friday, to celebrate the local debut of the HTC Desire 616 and the HTC One (E8) model. This market is a big deal, because it has one of the largest populations in the world and they’re quite fond of smartphones.

We’ve already seen the HTC One (E8) unboxed in Vietnam, where it’s available in a regular box, not the special bright green/yellow box that can be turned into a lamp (available in China). Meanwhile, the HTC Desire 616 is also a device we knew about, since it was launched on the Chinese market as a dual SIM phone almost a week ago. This model packs an octa core processor and doesn’t look bad at all.

HTC Desire 616 Dual SIM packs a 5 inch HD display, an octa core MediaTek CPU, an 8 megapixel main camera and a front 5 megapixel shooter. There’s a very appealing 2000 mAh battery inside and in China this model goes for $270, a price I also expect for the Indian market. HTC One (E8) is basically a polycarbonate version of the HTC One M8, with a Full HD 5 inch screen, a Snapdragon 801 CPU and 2 GB of RAM.
