Take this info with a big grain of salt, but what we have here looks like the very first quad core handset out there. We’re two days away from the unveiling of the first quad core tablet and already we have a quad core phone rumored… HTC Edge is the culprit and there’s already a picture of it available below.
Pocketnow also scored some specs of the device, not only this picture. This is a 4.7 inch handset with a case that a bit over 10mm thick and supposed to be a successor for the HTC Rezound/Vigor model. It packs 1GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera with 28mm f/2.2 lens and the major improvement here is the CPU: a quad core Tegra 1.5GHz processor that doubles the offer of Rezound when it comes to processing power.
There should also be 32GB of internal memory on board, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and of course Beats Audio technology all over. HTC is also supposed to implement the brand new Sense 4.0 UI on this device and offer with it some new services such as HTC Listen (music store), HTC Read (Bookstore) and HTC Play (gaming hub). No info about connectivity of the 4G kind, or better said LTE, although I’m sure we’ll see such versions of the handset pretty soon, since it would be a waste to only get it in 3G.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is the likely candidate to be the OS on the phone. Expect HTC Edge to launch in Q1 2012 or maybe even Q2.
